Review: Famous Amos Snack Pack
Famous Amos 25 gms Snack Pack
Famous Amos has the Snack Pack promotion going on from time to time and there's one currently running this weekend.
The snack pack is an itty bitty pack that fits into the palm of my hand. In it, there are only 4-5 cookies depending on the size of the cookies.
What I like about this pack is that it gives me a chance to enjoy the cookies without the guilt! And oh, these snack packs are RM1 each.

My Teatime Indulgence
Mmmmm......a Cranberry Scone with dripping butter for tea time at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in The Curve. It was raining out there and there wasn't anything else to do but to enjoy watching the rain fall as I had my warm scone. I haven't had this in ages and I enjoyed every bite of it :) I washed it down with Passion Fruit Iced Tea.

San Francisco Coffee Suria KLCC Review
It's been a loonnngggg time since I've patronized San Francisco Coffee and believe me that when I say a looonnnngggg time, I mean a very looonnngggg time.
Anyway, I saw that they were on MyDeal and were selling RM10 vouchers for RM6. Hmmm.... a 40% discount... so I bought some for a few of their outlets around town.
This review is for their KLCC outlet which I went to for brunch on last Saturday. I ordered a Smoked Salmon sandwich on Ciabatta. Not being a coffee drinker, I wanted to give their Mango Madness Frappe a go. I was told that it wasn't available. Okaaayyy... how about the OJ Did It then? That also wasn't available. Hmmm... the only frappe that was available was Guava Goodness. Okay, I went with that.
The staff who took my order at the counter was pleasant enough
The whole order came up to RM31.80, of which I paid RM30 with the MyDeal vouchers (yay!!!) and the balance in cash. The processing of the payment via the use of the vouchers was a tad slow, which I expected anyway.
The sandwich was okaayyy... but nothing to shout about. Let's just say that I've had better sandwiches in other coffee outlets. The Guava Goodness Frappe, however, was surprisingly good.
The Verdict
Had I paid the full price for the meal, I would have felt shortchanged. But considering that I got the meal at a discount, it was okay value for the discounted price that I got it for.

Sweetness Overload
Today is the very first day in a very loooonnnngggg time where I indulged in a soft drink. Yes, I had a Sprite (I could have had a Coke to go with my meal, but that would be pushing it as I have had a history with Coke where one isn't always enough), and not just a regular sized one too, I had an upsized Sprite!!!
In my defense, it was not planned (how was I supposed to know that the Old Town White Coffee in Mid Valley Megamall is an "Old Town Signature" outlet that doesn't serve Honey Lemon or Iced Lemon Tea with their tea time sets like all the other "normal" Old Town White Coffee outlets??? So yes, there was no other choice for me but to have a naughty indulgence!
Note the Sprite order listed!
Mmmmm.... it was a very tall glass of Sprite
And as if that wasn't enough, I don't know what possessed me, a few hours later, I ordered a Cendol at Nyonya Colors.
Super sweet treat

Watermelons and Me
I've always loved watermelons. As a child, I was told that I could finish half a watermelon all by myself.
As an adult, I still love watermelons though I've got some watermelon "experiences" to share...like the time that I carefully selected a watermelon at Jusco Supermarket, qued up in a very long line to pay for it (it was a busy weekend), only to realise when I got home that I had left it at the cashier counter in the supermarket!
Once, I purchased a watermelon, took it home and put it on the floor for what I thought would be a minute as I took off my shoes but I soon became distracted and continued doing other things which, I'm afraid, didn't include putting the watermelon in the fridge ASAP. When I finally remembered it, it was dead in the middle of the night when I was feeling peckish. The watermelon, by then, had sadly gone bad :(
And then, there was another time when I bought a watermelon, paid for it, took it home and put it in the fridge well meaning to eat it but forgot about it until one fine day, I was inspired to see what was in the fridge only to discover the science project that used to be a nice ripe and juicy watermelon!
So nowadays, when I am inspired to purchase a watermelon in the supermarket, I make sure that I consume it within a day of buying it (and before I forget that I ever purchased it in the very first place and before it morphs into a science project!).
Oh, by the way, you might want to know that I purchased a watermelon yesterday and made sure that I carried it home with me. I had it all last night and it was simply divine! :)

Duduk Cafe @ Publika
I went down to Duduk Cafe in Publika two nights ago after reading numerous positive reviews on it. We ordered the Spaghetti Meatballls and Beef Burger.
The service was slow. The Spaghetti Meatballs was over done and the meatballs were burnt. The quality of ground beef used for the meatballs was poor. The Beef Burger was also overdone and dry. The chips that came with the Beef Burger was good though.
This is certainly one restaurant that I won't be going back to and I certainly won't be recommending to others :(

Asian Terrace
I went to Asian Terrace located in Solaris for dinner a few nights ago. It's a Thai Vietnamese restaurant. I had Steamed Fish in lime juice, Mango Salad with Soft Shell Crab, Brocolli and Mushrooms with steamed rice. The meal was simply divine and the service was excellent. The waiters were really polite and attentive (which is really difficult to get in KL nowadays).

Belanga Restaurant
I was in The Gardens again this morning and was walking around looking for a possible breakfast joint when I saw baskets containing packets of nasi outside of the restaurant. There was a choice of Nasi Tumpang (never had it before) and Nasi Berlauk Ikan or Ayam. Both rice dishes originated from Kelantan.
I chose to try the Nasi Berlauk Ayam which comes wrapped in waxed paper. The meal, although prepacked, was warm and to be quiet honest, I really didn't know what to expect but decided to give it a go since I saw other customers eating it. Once opened, the pack contains some thin slices of egg omelet, a packet of sambal (really yummy), a packet of chicken curry with a small piece of chicken in it, some fresh ulam and of course, rice (in this case plain white rice).
It was simply delicious! At RM3.80 a packet, it was good value for money :)

Flying Chillies Restaurant
I tried out the Flying Chillies restaurant in The Gardens Shopping Mall last week. It serves Thai food and I had Fish Cakes, Papaya Salad (extra spicy --- special order) and Red Curry Chicken with steamed rice. The food was yummy and I really enjoyed the meal :)

The Coffee and Spice Company
I redeemed my Groupon (RM5 for RM10 cash voucher for all food and beverages) at The Coffee and Spice Company in 1-Utama today. I had a late lunch at about 4 PM. Sorry, no pics as I was feeling a tad lazy today and was also hungry (thus, the reason behind no pics as I attacked the food the moment it arrived!!!).
If you're familiar with 1-Utama, The Coffee and Spice Company is located on the Ground Floor, right across from Jusco, in the newly refurbished old wing.
I must say that I found the quality of food that I received good value for money. I had the Nasi Tomato with Chicken and it was generally good (apart from the fish which I found to be a little bit salty) . The wait staff were particularly polite, attentive and efficient which is a plus point when compared to competitor cafes and best of all, their prices are really affordable for an outlet located in a major shopping mall.
My total bill came up to RM17.50 (Nasi Tomato & a drink) which I paid with the RM10 cash voucher and topped up RM7.50. So in the end, I saved almost 30% on my meal today while trying out a new food outlet.
So...would I go there again? Definitely! :)
I'm looking forward to trying something else on their menu on my next visit.

MilkADeal: Two slices of cake from SuChan
I redeemed my MilkADeal voucher for two slices of cake from the new SuChan outlet in the e-Curve recently.
I picked the Tiramisu (since so many people have been giving it rave reviews on the MilkADeal site) and the Black Forest Cake.
The verdict:
I found the Tiramisu super sweet (this is probably because I don't like super sweet food). I guess the people who were raving over it have really sweet tooth.
I found the Black Forest Cake okay, but really nothing spectacular.
I'm glad I bought these cakes on a deal and didn't pay full price for them. So, would I go back there for their cakes? Hmmm... maybe not :(

O'Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe Classic Tripledecker Sandwich
I treat vouchers from deal sites such as Groupon as an opportunity to test out food outlets that I have never been to before and so, when a deal came up on Groupon for an O'Briens Irish Sandwich Cafe Classic Tripledecker Sandwich last month, I bought it. I redeemed my Groupon voucher today :)
I went to the O'Briens outlet at the Curve and had my sandwich to go as I was in a hurry. I like it that my sandwich was packed in a paper bag instead of a plastic.
The verdict:
I must say that of all the food outlet vouchers that I have redeemed so far, this sandwich is the best! The sandwich is simply mmmmm....yummylicious!!! I particularly like the chicken crisp in the sandwich :) I'm sold!!! This is certainly a must-go-back-for-more sandwich. Thumbs up!

Chris' Bay Area Burgers
I found this recipe for burgers online (click here for the recipe) and it was absolutely delish! The burger was nice, and full of flavour. It tastes like something you would have in a nice restaurant.
I had an extra serving which I put in the fridge and had it for lunch today. Yum!
I thank Allah for this phase of my life when I have the time to explore recipes which in the past I never had time to do.

Aroma Thai
I went to Aroma Thai located in Damansara Perdana for early dins yesterday evening (as I didn't have lunch) to redeem my WeBuy voucher which I purchased (I paid RM10 for a RM25 voucher). It was quiet when I arrived at around 6 PM. In fact, I was the only customer there. People did start coming in at around 6:30 PM though.
I ordered Seafood Tom Yum (since I read many great reviews about it on the net), Fried Beef in Red Chilies, steamed rice and Lemongrass Juice. The lemongrass juice was refreshing. Unfortunately I found the beef tough and the tom yum was alright but not brilliant --- I guess that is what happens when you've been to Thailand and had the real McCoy!
The bill came up to RM35 and I topped up the RM10 at the cashier. As I was leaving the restaurant, I spotted a roach (a small one) on the floor!

Kitsch Cupcakes
super yummy cupcakes
I mentioned about Kitsch Cupcakes in my earlier blog post. My very first encounter with Kitsch Cupcakes was on my first visit to Dubai last year. I happened to be in the Dubai Mall and saw this cupcake counter within one of the stores (Candylicious) and decided to buy a few to try them out. They were so pretty to look at and I was sorry to have to eat them (but I did!). Let me tell you this...It was love at first bite! The cupcakes tasted as good as they looked. The frosting tasted just the way I like it --- not too sweet.
Ever since then, whenever I am in Dubai, I make it a point to have Kitsch cupcakes. No visit to Dubai is complete without a visit to Kitsch Cupcakes.
So imagine my disappointment on my latest visit to Dubai when I discovered that they were no longer in the Dubai Mall and I had made that visit to the Dubai Mall just to buy the cupcakes!!! Not willing to give up, I goggled them up and discovered that they had moved to new premises and are now located in their own store on Jumeirah Beach Road. I only managed to go down there a day before I was to leave Dubai but it made it wait even more worthwhile when I bit into the cupcake... ahhh...it was simply divine.....mmmm....
If you're ever in Dubai, this is a MUST have! They cost AED12 each but believe me, they are worth every Dirham that you pay for them! Yum... just writing about them is making my mouth water! Can't wait to have them again.

Tea Republic
Remember the WeBuy voucher I bought for Tea Republic in BSC (Click here if you missed it earlier)? Anyway, I went there to redeem it today.
The Tea Republic is nicely tucked away somewhere in the back corner on the second floor of BSC's new wing making it a nice and quiet spot. When I arrived (it was around 3:30 PM), there was only one other customer there. I sat outside on the balcony as it was raining and the air condition inside was pretty chilly.
I had the Starfruit Tropicalitea Blend and two chicken mushroom pies for tea.
They were supposed to give me a RM5 voucher for my next visit but I think they ran out of it. The waiter suggested that I take something away worth RM5 and I chose to try the cupcake. The cupcake was not too highly exciting (not after having discovered Kitsch in Dubai!) though it did look pretty. The cupcake was packed in an eco-friendly cardboard box for me to takeaway.

Like I said in my earlier post when I purchased the voucher, it is a good way to experience new places without having to fork out too much money. Would I go back there again? Sure! I like it because it's quiet and the Starfruit Tropicalitea concoction is great!
The best part of the deal today? I didn't even have to part with a cent. Everything was already paid for and I even found a space outside BSC to park (yup, couldn't believe my good luck coz that area is always pretty busy and the carpark in BSC was quite busy at that time as well) and so, I didn't even part with a cent today! :)
