Review: Pilot Kakuno Pen (Fine Nib)

Along with my interest in bullet journals comes my renewed love for all sorts of pens. I purchased this pen awhile back when I saw it in Borders.

This fountain pen has the same nib as the Pilot Metropolitan but it comes at a cheaper price (score!). It was made for children but in this grey colour, it doesn't look so kiddle-like to me. The fine nib is really nice to write with in my bujo where I want fine lines which prevents ghosting on the page.

The pack comes with an ink cartridge and the one that I got is in fine nib.

I simply adore the detail on the nib --- it has a smiley face!

Review: Essence All About Roses Eyeshadow Palette

I mulled over this purchase for the longest time as I wasn't sure if the colors would be pigmented enough to show on my skin.  I finally gave in and purchased it when I was in Watsons in Mid Valley a few months ago. I figured that it is the ideal size of eyeshadow palette to have in my tiny makeup bag when I'm on the move.

I'm happy to say that I'm glad that I made this purchase. The colors are neutral on my skin. I find the texture soft and easy to blend. I tend to use the matte colors more since I wear these eyeshadows to work. I apply these eyeshadows over the Essence I Love Stage Eyeshadow Base and have no problem with the lasting power of these eyeshadows.

This palette also didn't break the bank. This is a good buy. Love!

Empties | May 2017

These are the products that I finished in May 2017:
1. Loreal Touche Magique Concealer
I've had this product for ages. It's no longer in production now.

2. Cetaphil | 500 ml | Made in Canada
This is a gentle facial cleaner and a must have product for me. It doesn't irritate nor dry out my skin.

3. Catrice Mat Foundation | 30ml | Made in Poland
Love this product. Unfortunately, it's not possible for me to purchase this shade anymore :(

4. Timotei Nutrition Intense Repair Shampoo | 400 ml | Made in .... hmmmm.......doesn't say on the packaging!
This product does what a shampoo is supposed to do, I guess.

Review: Catrice Prime and Fine Pore Refining Anti-Shine Base

The Catrice Prime and Fine Pore Refining Anti-Shine Base is supposed to be a primer designed for oily skin.

This product, unfortunately, did not work on my super oily skin ;/

It goes on feeling like a moisturiser. It doesn't take long before my face gets super oily.

Certainly NOT a recommended product :(

Empties | April 2017

I only finished two products in April.

1. Oxy Oil Control Moisturiser | 45g | Made in China
This worked well on my skin. It wasn't oily.

2. St Ives Exfoliating Apricot Body Wash Gel | 400 ml | Made in U.S.A.
This was good. It contains 100% natural jojoba beads, smells good and more importantly, this product is not tested on animals.

3. Tesco Loves Baby | Baby Wipes | 30 Sheets | Made in Malaysia
I use this as makeup remover wipes and it does the job.

Empties | March 2017

These are the products I finished in March 2017:

1. Catrice Even Skin Tone | 030 Even Sand | 30 ml | Made in Italy
I loved this foundation. It is has sadly been discontinued :(

2. Silky Girl Skin Perfect O2 Liquid Foundation | 25 ml
This was an okay foundation. Not sure if I'd repurchase it though.

3. Bon Bons Malizia Eau de Toilette | Primobacio | 50 ml | Made in Italy
I purchased this product out of curiosity in my local Village Grocer quite awhile back (and by that I mean a few years ago). They have since stopped carrying this brand.

4. Adidas Fruity Rhythm Perfumed Deo | 150 ml | Made in EU
This, as the name describes, smells fruity --- a scent that I love. It also doesn't leave stains on my clothes which is a big plus in my books.

5. Tender Soft Baby Wipes | 30 Sheets | Made in Malaysia
I purchased this product since they are out of my regular Tesco Baby Wipes. The packaging is so cute! The product cleans my face well and I like that there are enough sheets in there to last a month.

6. Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder | 030 Medium | 8.017 g | Made in U.S.A.
This pressed powder didn't help mattify my super oily skin :/

7. Daiso Silky Oil Blotters | 100 Sheets
This is an absolute must have in my handbag.

New Bujo :)

I'm starting a new Bujo today! :)

It's a Moleskine notebook that has all four types of pages: line, grid, dots and blank. This is a freebie from Starbucks (and I drank a lot of coffee to get it!). Moleskines cost a bomb here and I just didn't want to purchase a super expensive notebook (I was game for a freebie one that came with lots of coffee though!).

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder

The Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder is one product that has had many rave reviews. So, on my trip to the UK in 2015, I just had to purchase it.

This product comes in translucent as well as several other skin toned shades. I purchased mine in shade 005 Silky Beige from Boots. I had not gotten around to using it until recently after I finished using my Revlon Naked compact powder.

To be quite honest, I have no idea what the rave over this product is really about. I found the Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder to be no different from the other compact powders that I have used before (only that some of the other compact powders that I have used in the past, do not claim to be shine control). It does nothing in terms of shine control on my super oily skin.

Since I already have bought it, I would carry on using it but would I buy this product again? No. This is a meh product in my opinion. I'd prefer to give other products out there a try.

Daiso Marking Pens

Daiso Marking Pens

I found these highlighter pens while browsing in Daiso.

I was basically on the lookout for a grey highlighter pen for my Bujo when I came across these. They come in a pack of 5 and at a glance, look a lot like the Zebra Mildliners (take note though that the Zebra Mildliners are double tipped marker pens while these have only one tip). The Zebra Mildliners also cost a lot more with one highlighter pen costing as much as this pack of 5 highlighter pens! I love these pens.

Review: Essence Lip Liners

Essence Lip Liners in 07 Cutie Pink, 08 Red Blush & 15 Honey Berry

These are not new on the market. I've read many reviews about the Essence Lip Liners and only recently got around to purchasing some. I started out purchasing three shades and went back to purchase two other colours --- yes, that is how much I like them!

Essence Lip Liners in 11 In the Nude & 14 Femme Fatale

These are the new formulas and they are harder than the old formulas (I know this as some of the testers at the stores are the old formula. FYI the old formula has a grey coloured cap unlike the new formula that has a similar coloured cap).

I colour my lips with these lip liners and apply my Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick 3D Volume Lip Shine over it. They go well together.

Ligne Clips

I've been wanting ligne clips for the longest time but whenever I did find them, they cost a lot. Well, that is no longer the case and I finally found ligne clips at an affordable price. These were purchased from Daiso. I just love the copper colour. It has such an olde-worlde feel to it. Love.

Review: Boots Time Flawless Primer

This was a chance purchase that I made while I was in Bangkok and I must say that it is a purchase that I am pleased with (as evidenced by the nearly empty tube!).

It works well under my foundation and gives my skin a smoother finish. It doesn't break out my skin.

This is one product that I would repurchase if ever I got the chance to be in a country where there is a Boots.

Love!

Empties | November 2016

These are the products that I finished in November, 2016:

1.  Cetaphil | 500 ml | Made in Canada
This is a staple in my daily routine (which explains the 500 pump bottle size). It's non-drying and doesn't irritate skin. This was purchased in a pack of 3 so I still have two more to go!

2. Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean 4 in 1 Wash Off Deep Cleansing Milk | 350 ml | Made in the UK

I use this product sometimes when I feel that the baby wipes are not removing my face products well enough (which explains why this product has lasted me so long). Soap & Glory products cost a fraction of the price that they are sold for in Sephora in Malaysia and since wising up to this fact, I have purchased two bottles of this product in the UK as backups.

I love the smell though I do feel that it can be a tad too strong of a product and dry out my skin if I use it too often,

3. Oral B Floss | Made in Ireland
This is a default item in my handbag.

Empties | October 2016

These are the products that I finished using in October 2016:

1. Boots Zingy Berries & Cream Shower Gel | 250 ml | Made in Bulgaria
This was purchased on my recent holiday to Bangkok. I simply love the scent and texture of this shower gel. Good thing that I have backups!

2. Adidas Women Deodorant Pure Lightness Perfumed Deo | 150 ml | Made in EU
The scent of this deodorant is not as strong as Nivea and I prefer this to Nivea.

3. Catrice Nude Illusion Make Up | 30 ml | Made in Italy
I had a love hate relationship with this product but I persevered and used it all up! It goes on nicely but it tends to separate on my face and I just couldn't figure out if it was my primer that it was reacting to! I am now working on my the next foundation to finish on my list.

4. Citrus Hotel Guest Bar Soap
I like to use things up instead of wasting them. This was from my Bangkok trip.

5. Biore Perfect Cleansing Water| 90 ml | Made in Vietnam
I didn't buy this product. I got it free in an exchange program where I exchanged an empty bottle of makeup remover with a new bottle of the product. This is supposed to be a makeup remover for face, eyes and lips but I used it as an eye makeup remover. It was an okay product.

6. NYX HD
This eyeshadow primer lasted me ages. It was okay, I guess but I have since moved on to another product which I like more so it's quite unlikely that I'll be repurchasing this product.

This is my RM5 lunch today. It consists of a Personal Pan pizza, garlic bread and soup of the day. Not bad, huh?

Matta Fair: Looking for Flights

I went to the Matta Fair yesterday to look for flights to Europe for the end of the year vacation. I went there on the off chance that the prices might be cheaper than what was being offered online.

This is what I discovered: the Matta Fair is probably a better deal if you're looking for travel packages (i.e. hotel + flights). If you're like me and on the hunt for only flights, my advice is it is better for you to advoid the crowd at the Matta fair and instead stay home and chill out in front of your computer and just book your flights online as flights are NOT cheaper at the fair. In fact, if anything at all, they can turn out to be more expensive (go figure!).

Journal Planner

This is my Journal Planner. It's basically just a notebook that I already had lying around (this is a Picadilly Essential Notebook which I purchase a year or so ago at a Popular Sale down on the ground floor of IPC).

I like this more than a diary that you can purchase out there as it allows me to have the flexibility to decide how much space I want to dedicate to a day, depending on what I've got happening on that day. And best of all, I get to doddle in it!
